WORDS - KEEPING AN EAR TO THE GROUND

There've been plenty of times
I walked through that door
Seen faces of despair
And faces of many that are sore
You can't pin that on me
As much as you want to believe
You may not agree
But I will not concede
Oh, the world we're up against
Has my back against the wall
And the cards I've been dealt
Ain't no fair ball
When the cheaters are uncovered
And the truth is discovered
Don't look to me
Expecting sympathy

I'll keep on
Keeping an ear to the ground
Listening for that sound

Now here comes the wagon
I'm sure they'll squeeze in one more
Strong arm and bear
To settle the score
It's a long road
But it's destiny's code
This boat is in need
Of a wise man to row
The curtain has been lifted
Now judgment is insisted
Come out from your corner
You're citizen's arrested
Casted astray
To dig your own grave
Your name has been tarnished
And they burned your dossier

Well, I'll keep on
Keeping an ear to the ground
Listening for that sound

Dark clouds are rolling in
As focus turns back to me
Never asked for this face
I'm no one to heed
There ain't no use to fight
The numbers don't rival up right
The fortune's up for grabs
Enough for everyone to have
But the world we're up against
Has many of views
Ya need fuel to fight
Or fall to the feet of who
Own your house
The blood-sucking louse
Is this the omen?
The train is broken
